Biomimicry is a little known term, and only some people are familiar with this word. This discipline, also known as biomimetics, is growing increasingly influential in the fields of social, natural, human, formal, and applied sciences, in the last decade. Biomimicry refers to the study of nature and its emulation in all social and industrial areas, as the term "biomimetics" was first coined in the 1990s by Janine Benyus (1997) in her book Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature.
